Primus Partners organized a conference titled, A Glimpse Behind the Scenes creators on the issue of women's representation within the media and entertainment (M&E) industry, featuring senior government officials, actors, industry leaders and content creators.
The conference discussed how media can evolve to address issues such as gender inequality and the perpetuation of gender stereotypes. It also discussed creating a balance between creative freedom and responsible content creation, gender equity, financial empowerment, and inclusivity of women across the media and the entertainment sector.
The Event saw participation of leading voices from Bollywood including Shabana Azmi, Farhan Akhtar, Anupama Chopra, Aditi Rao Hydari, Atul Kasbekar, Shobha Sant, Meghha Chedda, Ashima Chibber, Samruddhi Porey and Khusboo.
The public sector saw representation from Iqbal Singh Chahal, IAS, ACM to CM Maharashtra; Dr. Preetam Yashvant, JS, Ministry of Women and Child Development; Director, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting; and Amit Rana and Uma Rawla from Prasar Bharati.
The participants discussed the responsibility of the content creators to ensure content is culturally sensitive. They discussed ways to encourage nuanced portrayals, reflecting diverse realities and reducing stereotypes.
