Ahmedabad Plane Crash: Mid-Air Fallout
01-07-2025
Pragya Priyadarshini, Managing Director – Aviation and Ports Lead, Primus Partners, shares her view on emerging aviation safety concerns in India. She highlights that the recent Ahmedabad runway incident has brought to light longstanding operational and technical issues facing Air India. These include persistent challenges in aircraft maintenance, flight delays, and crew shortages. She also mentions that despite Air India Engineering Services Ltd. (AIESL) having certified maintenance facilities, its continued operation as a separate public sector entity has led to coordination challenges and slower turnaround times—further exacerbating existing issues within the airline.
