Anantapur, officially Anantapuramu is named after ‘Anantasagaram’ a big tank, which translates into “Endless ocean”.
On February 5, 2025, a horticulture event took place in Ananthapuramu District,this is first Horticulture Conclave in the district history. The event aimed at promoting horticultural development in this drought-prone region. Ananthapuramu, known for crops like groundnut and paddy, is expanding its horticulture sector to diversify agriculture. The event aligns with efforts by the district’s Department of Horticulture to address water scarcity and boost farmer incomes, reflecting broader state goals.
District aims to achieve 18% ~ 25,000 Ha. By using this techniques and ultimately earning the title “ Fruit Bowl of Andhra Pradesh”
With effective Clod storage and logistics, district administration is planning to minimize post harvest losses(10%) ~800Cr.

- Focus on 5 key crops: Pomegranate, Tomato, Sweet Orange, Red Chilli
- 7 MoUs signed for agri & cold storage investments.
- Integration Deep technology and AI in the horticulture and Product safety & perfection.
The event was attended by Kalava Srinivasulu, Minister of Finance and Planning, GoAP, Paritala Sunitha, MLA, and other district elected officials. During the conference, MOUs were inked with seven businesses: Puro Natural, Siddhartha Cold Storage, Kousuri Bajaj Agro, Green Gurukulam, Agro Life Science Croporation, and Micro Algae Solutions.
