A recent report by Primus Partners, titled India's Booming Online Gaming Industry | A Potential Powerhouse, highlights the sector’s rapid expansion, projecting its revenue to reach $2.4 billion by FY2029. The industry has experienced a 27.5% CAGR in its GDP contribution from 2019 to 2022, underscoring its growing economic significance.Amid this growth, IT and Electronics Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw informed Lok Sabha that the government blocked 1,410 illegal gaming sites in 2024. He emphasized that both state and central governments must work together to regulate online gaming, given the complex constitutional framework governing betting and gambling.
