Driving sustainability: Bengaluru-based Moonrider powers rural India with next-gen electric tractors
24-06-2025
Nikhil Dhaka, Vice President, Primus Partners, emphasized that while electric tractors have seen early development in states like Uttar Pradesh and Maharashtra, commercial adoption remains minimal. Only 16 out of nearly 800,000 tractors registered in FY 2024–25 were electric. He highlighted high upfront costs, battery limitations, and lack of awareness as key hurdles. However, he believes declining battery prices, improved financing, and national-level policy support could make electric tractors a more appealing and viable option for farmers in the future.
