From Fear To Hope: Reflecting On Over Three Decades Of The Fight Against HIV/AIDS
01-12-2024
Nilaya Varma, Co-Founder and CEO, Primus Partners, and Manoj Kumar, Vice President, Primus Partners, share their reflections on World AIDS Day 2024. As we mark 36 years since the global initiative to combat HIV/AIDS, significant progress has been made, with a 39% reduction in new infections since 2010. Antiretroviral therapy (ART) has turned HIV into a manageable chronic condition, with 77% of individuals receiving ART. However, stigma remains a major barrier to progress, necessitating continued advocacy and community engagement. Tackling structural inequities and leveraging digital innovations in healthcare are crucial for sustaining this momentum and ensuring equitable access to care.
