Core inflation is considered a prime indicator of underlying long-term inflation, given how rising prices impact consumer income. Core inflation (which excludes food, fuel, and light) was up 5.6 percent in February, from 5.3 percent in January. Most economists are worried, and Moody's Analytics described this as "uncomfortably high".
