Two Day International Seminar on Swasth Bharat Se Sampan Bharat: Resilience, The Need Of The Hour by Guru Gobind Singh College for Women, Chandigarh
17-02-2023

The event witnessed discussions between eminent personalities such Prof. Pritam Singh, Emeritus Professor of Economics Oxford Brookes Business School, UK, Professor Ranjit Singh Ghuman, Professor of Eminence, G.N.D.U., Amritsar, former Professor of Economics, CRRID, Chandigarh and many others from the medical field.

The Seminar aimed to dwell upon the interdependent concepts of Swasth, Sampan and Resilience that have become the global keywords and to establish the intricate relationship between health and wellness and the capacity building. The transition to ‘Swasth Bharat Se Sampan Bharat’ cannot be achieved solely through conventional methods. It requires a paradigm shift in the thought process, methods, and tools of the policy makers, institutions, and populace in general. The identified focus areas that require this shift are agriculture, industry, communication, integration of digital technologies and innovation, infrastructure, logistics and transport, education and employment, health and wellness, governance, environmental challenges etc.

The panel discussion was moderated by Dr. Saamdu Chetri, former Head, Good Governance (Joint Secretary, PMO Bhutan) and had other eminent personalities such as Dr. Subhash Chander, Additional Director, DGRE (Defence Geo-Informatics Research Establishment), Dr. Aastha Takkar Kapila, Associate Professor, Dept. of Neurology, PGIMER, Chandigarh and Dr. Sunita Malhotra former Chief Dietician & Head, Department of Dietetics, PGIMER, Chandigarh. Raksha Sharda, Vice President, Primus Partners was part of the panel discussion. While the panellists discussed about different aspects of health, diet, neurological diseases etc., as an industry representative from Primus Partners, Raksha highlighted that Health needs to be an outcome indicator for all the departments and ministry and not just the Health Department. It is important from the policy front that all the schemes, initiatives and ministries work in a collaborative way instead of working in silo to realize the vision of Swasth Bharat se Sampan Bharat.
