Davinder Sandhu, Co-founder & Chairperson, Primus Partners, shares his view on the future of clean mobility following BluSmart’s collapse. He notes that the abrupt suspension of BluSmart’s operations, amid financial misconduct allegations, has disrupted clean transport services across Delhi-NCR, Mumbai, and Bengaluru, affecting over 10,000 drivers and a growing customer base. He highlights that this presents an opportunity for the government to acquire BluSmart and integrate it into the Sahkar Taxi cooperative platform to protect livelihoods, preserve vital EV assets, and further India’s climate and cooperative ownership goals.
He shares that BluSmart’s model—fixed fares, zero cancellations, and a fleet of over 8,000 electric vehicles—had set new standards in urban mobility. Integrating these practices into Sahkar Taxi can strengthen the initiative’s impact as it rolls out nationally with support from the National Cooperative Development Corporation (NCDC). He highlights that preserving BluSmart’s workforce and infrastructure would boost India’s EV transition, especially as the FAME-II scheme concludes, and offer drivers a more equitable and sustainable future through cooperative ownership.
