Davinder Sandhu, Co-founder & Chairperson, Primus Partners, shares his view on the urgent need to develop Indian-owned consulting champions. He highlights that while India has made global strides in sectors like IT services and digital payments, management consulting remains dominated by foreign firms—controlling nearly 85% of the market. Despite abundant domestic talent and a growing $24 billion industry, Indian firms struggle to scale due to structural imbalances in procurement preferences and capital flows.
He mentions the need for a strategic policy push to create a “Bharatiya Big Four” by learning from successful playbooks in IT, finance, and digital services. Just as India enabled homegrown success through initiatives like the Software Technology Parks scheme and UPI, similar support can help Indian consulting firms compete globally and preserve the sovereignty of insight.
